What to expect with Microblading & Ombre Brows

Microblading is a form of permanent makeup that creates natural, beautiful eyebrows with a handheld microblade. It’s perfect for people who have over plucked or those who want to define, darken, or reshape their eyebrows. Technically, microblading is a form of eyebrow tattooing. However, unlike traditional tattooing, which uses a machine, microblading artists apply each hairstroke with a handheld microblade. This produces a very fine line that resembles real hair. Each individual hair stroke is hand drawn by the artist and blended in with the client’s existing eyebrow hair. With a strong artist at the helm, the results can be gorgeous and very lifelike.

CONSULTATION (15 MINUTES)

This is where we’ll have you fill out the consent form and get to know you and your brow lifestyle. We’ll examine your shape and ask you a few questions about your daily routine. You’re welcome to bring any brow inspiration photos you may have, and we’ll discuss your shape preferences and brow pigment colour.

BROW DESIGN (30 MINUTES)

Using our measuring tools, we’ll custom design a brow outline that’s best proportioned to your facial features. At this point we may ask you to smile, frown, talk and laugh so we can see how your mimic muscles move. We’ll both review the design and make any adjustments necessary. Once the brows are approved, we’ll clean up the shape and start the Microblading procedure.

MICROBLADING (1.5 – 2 HOURS)

This is where we draw each individual hair by inserting pigment in the uppermost layer of the skin using a tiny handheld tool with a blade made of microneedles. We only use sterile and disposable tools and are compliant with all regulations by the OC city health department.

Each brow design is unique in the sense that no two natural eyebrows are the exact same. Our shapes will be as symmetrical as they can be for your face, but to achieve the most natural look, the hair strokes may vary slightly per brow.

WHO IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR MICROBLADING?

Microblading is not recommended for those with oily skin or large pores. If that’s you, you may want a shading or combination shading and microblading technique. We also do not provide microblading for people:

under 18 years old
pregnant or nursing
if you have diabetes, glaucoma, skin diseases such as Shingles, psoriasis, or eczema on the area of treatment-allergies to makeup
Keloid disorder, HIV/Hepatitis, skin cancer, haemophilia, or if you’re taking skin medications like actuate and steroids.

HOW DO YOU MATCH THE COLOUR OF THE HAIR?

Our pigments are of the highest quality and are pre-mixed to match every type of hair colour. We can mix in additional pigment colours to match each individual client. Beauty Angels Pigments are hypoallergenic, vegan friendly, and have great retention! Brow Pigments are a blend of red, yellow, and black which makes brown. Yellow is the colour that typically fades the fastest, which may leave brows more reddish or cool grey. Phi Pigments compress the yellow ink so that it fades evenly with the other colours, to create the most natural finished result.

HOW LONG DOES IS LAST?

Microblading eyebrows last 1 to 2 years for most people, before it usually needs a touch up. This can vary depending on the skin type and how you take care of the treated area.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL? You’ll be able to wear your new brows back to brunch! In the first 7-10 days, you’ll need to avoid getting them too wet (in the shower), working out (sweating) or wearing brow makeup. Please see aftercare for more details.

DOES IT HURT? Most clients report little to no pain and would compare it to a tweezing session. Many clients even fall asleep! Topical anaesthetic is applied prior and during the procedure so the client can feel at ease while receiving the treatment.

HOW LONG IS THE PROCEDURE? A microblading sessions consists of a consultation the day of, where we review your lifestyle and daily brow maintenance. We then map the brows according to your facial structure with the golden Phi ratio of balanced proportion. Once you approve the brow shape, the procedure takes about an hour and a half. This entire session takes a total of 2.5-3 hours.

Prep

To achieve the most beautifully natural brows for your face, you will get the absolute best results by prepping for the appointment and following the after care. The eyebrow area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive, and non-irritated.

CONSULATATION

You must have a consultation and patch test prior your treatment 24hrs - 72hrs minimum before your treatment.

1 MONTH BEFORE

No Botox or any fillers 4 weeks prior
No Facials for 2 weeks prior

1 WEEK BEFORE

No Tinting, Waxing or Electrolysis
No Retinoid products – No Tanning or intense Sun Exposure

MOST IMPORTANTLY: TO PREVENT BLEEDING AND POOR COLOUR DEPOSIT 24 HOURS BEFORE

No Alcohol – No Caffeine (yes that means coffee)
No Vitamin E or Fish Oil Supplements – No Excessive Sweating or working out

After Care

AFTER CARE

Post treatment care makes 50% of the total treatment success. Conscientiously adhere to the given advice because if not, you can risk losing up to 80% of the drawn strokes.
At the end of your session, we will provide you with an after care kit that has everything you need for the 7-10 day healing process. This may vary per skin type, but 10 days recommended for the best results.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR THE FIRST 7-10 DAYS:

Gently wipe the treated area with an aftercare wipe 2 hours after the procedure, allow the skin to dry and then apply a thin layer of the after care ointment, repeat every 2 hours the first day
Days 2 & 3, gently dab the treated area with the wipes prior to applying the provided ointment, make sure the skin is always dry before applying.
Apply aftercare ointment 3-5 times a day for normal skin, 1-2 times daily for oily skin
Avoid getting the treated area wet for 7-10 days
No sweating or excessive exercise for 7 days
Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the brow area for 7 days
No facials, botox, chemical peels or microdermabrasions for 4 weeks
No major sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE FIRST 6-8 WEEKS:

Here’s a list of thoughts that will probably cross your mind:

The good news is, the Intensified colour and slight redness are part of the initial stages of healing and will only be from days 2-5. Don’t worry, don’t freak out.. just be patient.

This is the initial shock phase and we ask that you just simply trust the process. After 7 days, the brows will fade about 20% and shrink about 10% to a much more natural look. The sensation can be comparable to that of a slight burn and minimal peeling or flaking may take place.

Refrain from picking at your brows as you may run the risk of removing pigment in the process. Healing will vary with skin type, but you may experience colour fading and loss of hair strokes. This is completely normal.

We like to include a complimentary touch up session where we can assess your healing and fill in any missing strokes as well as give it a colour boost. We can then recommend the best follow up timeline for future appointments.

Policies

Care Instructions are provided to achieve optimal results, but there is NO guarantee made as we have no control what happens during the healing process.

A deposit is required in order book and confirm your appointment. Please note that all deposits are non-refundable. The deposit is to ensure you are serious about booking your appointment and will be deducted from your overall cost. Cancellations will automatically result in a forfeit of your deposit.

A minimum of 48-hour notice is required to reschedule your appointment without penalty. Less than 48 hours’ notice will result in the forfeit of your deposit and a new deposit will be required to reschedule your appointment. Failure to show up to your appointment without notice will results in a charge of the full cost of the service to the card on file – this includes all bundled touch-ups.

Please contact us if you are going to be late for your appointment. Being more than 25 minutes late may result in a rescheduling or cancellation of your appointment.

If you have had your eyebrows previously microbladed or tattooed by another artist, a clear photo must be sent in and approved before booking an appointment. We must ensure we have a workable canvas, and, in some cases, the previous work may be too dark to achieve optimal results. Failure to provide a photo prior to booking may result in a forfeit of your deposit.

Touch ups must be booked no sooner than 4 weeks following your appointment. You must allow your skin to heal before any additional work can be done. We withhold the right to not work on clients who have yet to properly heal. Failure to follow this timeline and premature booking may result in a forfeit of your deposit.
